Where To Find Iridology Schools

Iridology schools are a little easier to find than followers of alternative medicine might realize. As this screening procedure is often seen as a vital link in this field of medicine, educational programs do abound for its study.

Iridology schools focus on the study of this unusual screening science. Iridology centers on the premise that the eyes are a window into the functioning of a person's body. Iridologists read the eyes, specifically the irises, for signs of illness and disease. They do this through the use of specialized equipment that enables them to obtain very detailed images of a patient's eyes.

Music Therapy Cancer Treatments

One of the most interesting applications of music therapy is in cancer treatment. Music therapy cancer treatments are very helpful to a wide variety of patients who suffer from a large range of cancers. While music therapy cancer treatments don't actually affect the disease itself - meaning that the tumor will not show any physical signs of improvement - the treatments and therapies will greatly affect the mood of the patient, and sometimes that can make all the difference in the way the patient deals with and feels about the disease.

The American Cancer Society has published several articles about the benefits of music therapy cancer treatments. One from 2004 discusses some of the more specific research done on cancer patients who have received music therapy.

Using the Best Meditation Bench for Your Body

One thing that many people are unaware when they meditate is that not always are they using the best meditation products that they should be. In fact, more often than none, more people will be using the wrong meditation bench that they should be. A meditation bench is mostly used with people that have weaker knees or if their legs fall asleep easily.

When it comes to using a meditation bench, it should fit perfectly with your body. While you're using it, you should feel comfortable as well as confident on it; if you do not feel that way, then you should consider getting a new one. In most cases, a meditation bench will be light weight, strong as well as beautiful; usually made with hard woods then covered with a protective finish. Also, each meditation bench that is made is unique; not one that is identical.

What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is simply the professional therapeutic ability to use artwork that has been done by individuals who desire personal development. This development has not been able to be achieved, due to trauma, personal crisis, illness, and certain challenges that have affected their life.

People of all ages use art therapy, done by a professional art therapist who has been trained extensively about the human development, artistic traditions in a multitude of cultures, psychological theories, and the healing abilities regarding the use of art. Services are provided to these individuals through art therapy because they cannot articulate through words, emotions, and feelings about their true state of mind.

Acupuncture Charts Give Valuable Information

Acupuncture charts are tools used by acupuncturists to tell them where they should treat a patient. These charts are effective, hands on and easily accessible, which will give instant access to more information.

Patients that come in can also learn from using these charts. By implementing a series of acupuncture charts, patients can learn what is happening and why, helping them to see the real benefits of including acupuncture in their daily lives.

There are many types of acupuncture charts available today. For example, an acupuncture meridians chart will point out where the 12 main acupuncture meridians are located. It may also explain the anatomical area effectively. Another type of chart can convey the various acupuncture formulas used.

The Demanding Intensity of Bikram Yoga

Designed by Bikram Choudry, Bikram yoga consists of 26 postures and 22 breathing exercises. The movements stretch every part of the body including joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments.

It was developed in California and then brought to Los Angeles, and this then gave it the nickname of 'hot yoga' as the postures were performed in a minimum temperature of 40 degrees. It is fair to say that Bikram yoga differs to the other styles in that it is probably the most demanding and intense style of hatha yoga, however the benefits of studying this style are great.

The heat ensures that the body is warmer and more flexible even at the start of the class; this is beneficial as there is less chance of injuries such as pulled muscles. As the body is more flexible, the stretches become more pronounced and so the rewards are greater.

The Benefits of Rolfing

Rolfing is both similar and dissimilar to deep massage therapy; developed about 50 years ago by Ida P. Rolf. This treatment manipulates the deep connective tissues of the body. The practice of Rolfing provides longer lasting pain relief than massage therapy. The effects of massage therapy lasts for about 24 hours; however the effects of Rolfing lasts over time to improve posture and to put the body back into balance.

The similarities of Rolfing to deep tissue massage are that the therapist puts his/her hands on you to manipulate the connective tissue beneath the skin. The therapist uses specific techniques to achieve this. Rolfing does not diagnose or treat disease, but many people who have been treated by a Rolf practitioner do report having pain relief.

Ear Reflexology: There is More to it Than Simply What you Hear

Ear reflexology is not new as is commonly believed; in fact it has been around as long as hand and foot reflexology. Hippocrates, considered the founder of modern medicine manipulated the ears as a form of birth control.

Though we know today that ears were not effective as birth control agents we can clearly see the importance the ancients put on these two organs. Ear reflexology has been used for centuries, several millenniums in china, Persia, the Arab countries, ancient Rome and Greece as a treatment for the relief of sciatica.

In modern times the work of Dr. William Fitzgerald promoted foot, hand, and ear reflexology in his scientific papers and books. Over the years, ear reflexology somehow took a back step to foot and hand reflexology but is now once again recognized for its healing properties. Modern day ear reflexology has evolved from the older "Aucular therapy" also known as acupuncture of the ears.
